How To Land TV and Film Music Placements

"HOW IS IT POSSIBLE???"

THE BIG PROBLEM:

Countless producers ask me about this and often there is a lot of struggle and confusion surrounding the topic.

They spend countless hours trying to figure out what to do next.

They search and search for opportunities and are confused by all of the possibilities and options.

This leaves them feeling hopeless and defeated.

The Simple Goal:

I’ll do my best to simplify it for you and make it easy, so you can take action and go directly towards the goal.

“To have your music on tv and fllm”

There are a lot of different avenues you can take in order to accomplish this.

Personally, I had an easier route, as a longtime friend ( build relationships ) who is a veteran artist, already had inroads into this business, was able to get my music placed in a movie, with very little effort from me.

I’ll be very straightforward about it.

THE SOLUTION:

But I WILL tell you that the BEST way to go about it is not necessarily the EASY way.

You want to get your music to the true “gatekeepers” of the TV and Film industries.

Some may think these gatekeepers are the tv and film producers or the directors because of their clout.

Well in terms of actually landing the TV and Film placement, it’s not going to help you much.

The TRUE gatekeeper are the Music Supervisors.

Make sure you know who those are.  Identify those. Google those.

Do all you can to investigate and find out who the “Music Supervisor” is for the TV or Film that you want to get your music on.

That’s the key point person.

HOW TO SEARCH FOR MUSIC SUPERVISORS:

Now with the internet being as wide open as it is, you may be able to find this person with a google search.

Let’s say for example: Love and Hip Hop Music Supervisor

Or even: Love and Hip Hop Music Supervisor Email

I would not be surprised if this lands you their email, phone number, Instagram account, LinkedIn, or any of the other mediums.

I would say to start this FIRST and then go forth and use the skills and tactics I show producers in my Beat Selling Secrets course, which utilizes a lot of the same foundational tactics, that are largely centered around building relationships.

Building relationships is something you will not be able to get around in this business if you want to pursue avenues of your music business that will involve someone else’s “permission”.

I personally have sought to remove any of the avenues of “permission” in my businesses, and that’s something that I have always naturally focused on.

I don’t want to be in competition with anyone.  I’m nice and peaceful and kind.  I want people to win.  I want to help people.

So trying to compete with 500 other people for 1 spot, is just not my cup of tea.

Maybe it will be yours.

Maybe you’re more competitive, and I dig it.

So let’s start here.

This will be Part 1 in the series.

HERE'S WHAT TO DO NEXT:

Go ahead and look up the Music Supervisors for the top 5 shows you want to be on and get really really good at searching the information for these people and you’ll be well on your way to building the relationships that will pay off for you now, and for years to come.

Hope that helps!
